Summer Giveaway with J.A.C. Photography - Portrait

Back in August or so, Jody of J.A.C. Photography and I set out to do a giveaway. With weather  schedules and a farmer's to battle it was a bigger deal then even we thought! It was so fun to work along side another talent and see things from a different perspective as a result. Jody has a great eye! This was so Fun! And the kids are adorable! My friend Kim and her husband Adam are saving up to do Iron Man Cozumel! I know right? It sounds REALLY hard! And it is! Adam has already done an Iron Man this year and now Kim is joining him, (it just looked too cool I guess.)

Giveaway sneak peek - Calgary Child Photographer

This photo shoot did NOT go as planned. We ran into some bumps and the light went a little funny on us, but the girls luckily, were sweet and cooperative. Despite the bumps and bugs I ended up with some good shots, here is the first look at just a few. Enjoy!

Auction for a cause

My friend Stephanie is very actively fighting the issue of child sex slavery. Their awareness is through Child Rescue. They are trying to raise money to send a few Alberta Police Officers for training in prevention and rescue of child slaves. This issue is unfortunately closer to our own backyards then we would like. Come on Over!

I have looked at my life the last little while and decided that it is too full! THINGS seem to be ruling my time. So I am down sizing. This is one of the ways, I'll post about out other changes later, oh and those quilts I promised.... later.

Anyways, these bins. They are full of clothes. My children's clothing. Clothing that has been outgrown mainly by my daughter Vienna, and some by Felix. There is also what may seem like a sickening amount of shoes, but I kinda have a major shoe thing for my babies! I have outer wear, I also have a made by me cowboy crib skirt. There is a toddler bed rail, a baby monitor, a boppy nursing pillow, never used.
Well I would like to give it to anyone who needs it or wants it for FREE!!!!

Back to school Giveaway update- Calgary Photographer

Well, it looks like I forgot to pray for no rain on Sat. The forecast has it good chances of rain in the evening and higher winds in the morning. Not what we wanted! This year has been the pits for weather! I think it is best to reschedule in this type of situation. Kids just don't do well when asked to take pictures in adverse conditions. So here is what I suggest.....

Just in case there is some miracle break in weather at your designated time slot and we can still do your pictures as scheduled, PLEASE CALL ME 30 minutes BEFORE your session #923-7131. we will decide wether to go ahead or not. (I'll give you directions then too or check this LINK little red barn yard)

In the event of rescheduling I suggest that we move this to the 25th which right now has a good forecast, in fact it has the highest temp over the next to weeks, if it stays that is. SO we can all pray this time for good weather and go from there. I have just found an indoor solution in case the weather is not favourable next week as well. So there is a plan B option if it comes down to it!

Now I realize that this changes peoples schedules, this may make it easier for some and more difficult for others. I will post what time slot you have, and if you could comment if that time still works for you the following week that would be great. If you want an alternate time slot please specify

Back to School Giveaway - Calgary Photographer

My 'little Man' and my 'Missy Pie' have gone and grown up!! Evan is in Grade 1 and Vienna started Kindergarten. I really can't believe it. They picked out their own outfits, packed their snacks and were ready to go! I must say I do miss having Evan home so much and it's only been a couple of days with him full time. The only down fall to kindergarten that Vienna has mentioned is that it isn't in the same class as her brother. She was actually very upset that they are separated, we're talking major tears! Two peas in a pod!

All of this back to school talk though, well it just reminds me that the 'school picture day' is coming. And more then that it reminds me that I HATE the pictures that come home. I didn't even order the pictures last year, (how bad is it that I didn't do that for my first kid his first year?) But honestly the blue/grey back drop and the fake smile, I just can't do it!

SO..... I thought I must not be the only one that despises these pictures. Thus I am offering a fun 'Little Scholar's Photo shoot'

Giveaway- Father's Day

Druuuuuuuuuuummmmmmm Roooooooollllllllllllll please! The winner of the free Father's Day photo shoot is, Courtnee!

I had a cute idea of taking pics of the slips of paper in a cute jar and one of my kids pulling the name out, but, it seems I only had time to do the draw late at night and I was just too tired to do all the cute stuff. So a tupperware bowl and some jagged cut pieces of paper fit the bill, and no one needs to see that!

So I am so excited to do these pictures!! I went garage saleing this past weekend and ended up with the cutest props for a fabulous bargain!! I can't wait to show you all!

So location. You have all been wondering I am sure! We are going to Alexandra Centre Society, located at 922-9 Ave SE Calgary. You can google it. It's in Inglewood and the possibilities are endless! I have you all booked pretty close together, were going to be running on an egg timer! So prompt arrivals will be much appreciated!

Oh and MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!! Please pray for NO RAIN!!! the forecast is improving, but still sketchy. If it is just horrible down pour then I will be travelling to your homes I guess for an intimate shoot, so this is motivation to get the beds made that morning, or greater motivation to pray!

Dressing your cute kids. I have had some questions. So here is some advice!

Don'ts

- Big brand logo's (unless you want that to stand out in your pics).

- Extremely busy patterns/graphics

- All black, or all white tops ( it just ends up looking like a blob)

Absolute Do's

- I love neutrals with a splash of colour added ie. scarf, hat, shoes etc.

- I can not say enough about texture! Do it!

- Simple patterns and bright colours work great!

- It doesn't have to be matchy, matchy. Co-ordinating colours is great.

- Layering adds dimension. ie. A cute sweater or jacket, skirt with leggings, shirt under a buttoned shirt etc.

- Wearing stuff you think looks really cute or that your kids love to wear will make for great pics. Kids totally feel it!

There is a photographer that I LOVE in the states that has similar views on this and actually did a great post with pics of what to wear. So if your still feeling lost please go HERE to check out Kristen Honeycutts post on that.

Kent was out working and they just couldn't bare to go to bed without saying goodnight to their Daddy. Thus we must CELEBRATE him!
