Our busy home

So our home feels very busy these days. Seger is into trouble of every kind! He doesn't really like to play with toys, but instead everyday objects and things of the off limits sorts. We were talking on the door step with a neighbour the other day and well I let Seger come out and explore. He had grabbed Vienna's crocks to wear and then proceeded to find mud! Not hard in our yard at the moment. Well by then I just had to let him go for it. See the results for yourself!

Other then that Seger and I are sick. Seger again, or still, and me finally. I have been trying to fight off this cold, but it has finally set in. I feel a little icky! I do however get my tooth infections tuff taken care of Wed. and so that should help boost me up. My belly is G-r-o-w-i-n-g! I will post pics sometime this week when I am feeling a bit cuter about it all.

Evan is well emotional. I hear people say girls are bad, but seriously Evan is so sensitive and emotional about everything!! I'm going a little insane. I hope it is just a phase, but am franticly trying to find a way to help him. He's also been having night terror's once or twice a week. They are so intense and he just shakes like a leaf. The poor kid.

Vienna, what a girl! She is a clepto in the night! Seriously she putters after we put her to bed, much to our shagrin, and when we check on her before going to bed ourselves, we have to de-clutter her bed. She had usually pulled about 20 things into bed with her. tucked around her, inside her pillow case, whatever. This is an interesting phase that keeps us puzzled and laughing! Oh and right now everything is "awesome" in this little girl's world.

Well this is one back post up and just a couple more to go! Quilt update coming, and boy is it a Fantastic one!! And a little about my birthday this past weekend.

Later!

Taylor used to have night terrors as well. If they are true night terrors than you can't do anything at all to calm them down...and our pediatrician (who is amazing) said that the only way to stop them is to go into their room 10 - 15 minutes before they start (they most likely are the same time every night) and to wake them out of REM sleep. Don't totally wake them up, just rub their back until they kind of sleepily open their eyes and then drift off. It totally worked for us and he hasn't had any more terrors. Apparently terrors are when their sleep gets stuck between REM and light sleep and they can't get out of it, that is why sorta waking helps them get unstuck.
Hope that helps, sorry the comment is so long!

How old is Evan? Something about 5 year old girls is extraordinarily emotional and overwhelming. It could just be 5 year olds in general. I hope it's a phase too, otherwise, I'm raising some seriously emotional young ladies. Can't wait for those teenage years!

Thanks Jolanda, for the advice on the night terrors. His are pretty intense, one night we carried him to the bathroom during his terror because he was all gagging he was so upset, and he just stood there freakin out and wet himself. Super intense. I'll have to try that trick for sure to help him out thanks!

And Ashley, yes he is almost 5 and maybe that's it, because some days.... wowzers! I'm hoping it's a phase fro both of us!

My oldest had severe night terrors when she was 6-7 every night 10pm sharp for a long time. She did finally grow out of them...yea! Our doctor had us for a while do the same technique of waking her up. It worked too. But there was one other thing he had us do too. When she came home from school we were to give her a dose of children's benadril (sp?) that way the timing was so she could make sure and have another dose before bed to get it into her system. That was to help her to relax and get into a more restful state of sleep. It definately worked too. I she had no side effects from it. But as with any meds or substance recommended to give to you or your child, check with your doctor first.
Good luck, I remember all too well what an aweful feeling it was to have your child scared and there be nothing you could do to help them.

Mud is so much fun! We should allow ourselves to play in it more! I have pictures of my two oldest with mud from head to toe! I brought buckets outside for them to rinse themselves off in before I would even allow them near the tub, and then I think it took a couple tubs worth of water to get them clean! :) Fun memories.

We are all about emotional meltdowns over here! I am terrified of my girls as teenagers! ;) You are not alone in the overly emotional child department, for sure! And I'm so sorry about the night terrors. My sister Krista had the worst night terrors, I shared a room with her and was 6 years older so I totally remember them. My mom is an expert on night terrors, you should totally talk to her. Jo's advice sounds really good though, I hope it helps. It is so hard to be so helpless when they are in them. I hope you're all feeling better soon!

Girl emotions are so different from boy ones! I am afraid of the years to come with Elaine. BUT I have noticed some improvement with the strick rules. BTW very cute pics!!! Thanks for the comment too. I wish I had everything under control......I didn't and that is why I am trying to now. Good luck with Evan!
