Well the long story short. i am designing a quilt for her to help out with her fabric debut at the Portland quilt market this fall. It's an amazing opportunity! I also get to sell my pattern!!!
But I need a name! I have come up with a couple of ideas. But I got to thinking.... what says 'ME'. I think that we all view ourselves a little bit differently then others may view us. I got to wondering what do others think of when they think of Elizabeth Cranmer?? So here is a call out for suggested names. That's right I am wondering what you think is just totally me and would make a great company name. Make a comment and who knows maybe I'll even give out a prize! Did I mention I make quilts!!! Hint hint!
Okay so fill in the blank "___________________Designs"

Ok I know that this isn't really a "new name" but I love your blog title.
Try...
pigtails and snails designs
go with something people already know you by...
Liz, I think you are always so busy...your house a hive of activity...to my name for your company would be "BEEHIVE" . But whatever you come us with I'm sure it will be great.
Love you
Auntie Anne
beauteous design, charming design (I like the idea of something with charm in it) but wait, does it have to have the word "Design" in it? Quilts are usually a keepsake item so maybe something along the lines of... charmed keepsake. What about Bonny Design? I don't think the name of your company needs to necessarily reflect you because it's not you that you're selling, but the patterns, which in turn is you and therefore perhaps enough. Keepsake Studio? Sunny Studio? Vivid Design? Keepsake Studio is so far my favourite but I'll keep chewing on it. I love naming things. Conor and I came up with a name for a project the other night and we all know I was the one that named his company... lol
"incredibly selfish design"...what can i say you said you wanted to know how we see you.:) I like your blog title too. if you want a more real answer out of me i will have to think about it....
...nicole..oops
I think you should go with Elizabeth Anne Designs or Elizabeth Anne Studios. Here's the reason, you're going to likely want to branch into more patterns etc. than quilts eventually. (I know you will) :)
Don't go cutesy with the name, that's not you. You're elegant and classy Liz. Make your name your brand and let everyone know who you are.
Honest, that's my best advice! XOXOX I love you tons and am so proud of you.
Daria
P.S.
The trend right now seems to be for designers to have their customers know who "they" are. This makes a more intimate relationship, plus how great is it to have someone look at a pattern or piece of fabric and say "Hey that's Patty Young!" or "That's an Amy Butler!".
Designers are doing all kinds of reaching out, getting to know things with their customers including blogs, twitter, social networking, you name it just to get their names known.
Anyway, I'll be thrilled with whatever you decide but had to share since it's you. :)
I like Elizabeth Anne too. Daria obviously is a good one to take advice from on this one since she pretty much owns the whole boutique industry. I still like Keepsake Studios. I like having the word studio in there because I think it allows easier expansion. I'm so excited to find out what you decide and what you think of the suggestions!
Liz, I also love the use of your name...Elizabeth Anne Studio, or Design, but as you know it is also my name, and when I wanted to call my business by my name I found it was already in use...check the Internet. Just remember that whatever you want might already be in use by someone else. Hope you find a good name that fits you!

I like the idea of your name, and of Studio being a part of it. Daria is pretty well informed on that particular inside track, but Auntie Anne makes a good point, that it might already be taken.
My other suggestions so far are:
Vienna Belle Designs
Studio Girl
I did a search for you on godaddy.com for domain name availability.
viennabellestudios.com - available
elizabethannestudio.com - available
elizabethannestudios.com - available
keepsakestudios.com - taken
Good luck Liz with whatever you choose.
I love "Pigtails and snails" but I totally agree with Daria, and wouldn't it be great for someone to see something of yours and overhear them saying "now that is so beautiful it must be an Elizabeth Anne" I love the name thing even more!!!
keep it coming!! i am loving the discussion. I like bits and pieces of each. But I need a clear winner here, because prizes are hard to split! Thanks for your input!
On another note most of you are my family so far, what about the rest of my friends that read my blog??? any ideas from you? a quilt is at stake here!
1. S.E.W. ~ Sewn Elizabeth Works
2. Elizabeth INC.
3. ElizAnne designs
4. (just)Elizabeth (because it's a beautiful name)
Good luck. You'll know it when you see it.
Elizabeth Anne Designs!
Howz' 'bout LizzyBee Co.
Ok I totally LOVE your Bog Name and since I was the first to post it... I win! yeah! yahoo!... Oh I didn't win yet... what? ok...
Here's the deal Daria is totally right about your Name! It's what you are so go with it... You are Elizabeth Anne Designs or Elizabeth Anne Studio then you can use Pigtails and Snails as a line such as patterns that are for children or Vienna Belle could be the name of the quilt pattern. In the industry it is ALL about you and your name when ever you are anywhere you want your name... a website- you want your name... sign in-you want your name... You want your name to be the next BIG BUZZZ...- Nena
Hi Elizabeth!
How did I not know you had a blog?!?! I guess I never bothered to find out. This is wonderful!! Thanks so much for all the super sweet things you said about me and my work. I feel equally blessed to have been paired up with you, via the amazing Daria! YAY!!!
I vote for Elizabeth Anne Studios (or Designs) for all the reasons mentioned above by Daria.
I cannot wait to see your quilt pattern... I'm sure it will be a huge hit at Market and most of all I can't wait to see this fabulous quilt!! Still tapping my fingers in anticipation to the day the fabric arrives... tapping, tapping, tapping...
Take care!
